Obiter Research was established in 2001 in Champaign, Illinois by Dr. William A. Boulanger, formerly of Abbott Laboratories and Albany Molecular Research. The company initially started as a private research company occupying two small rooms in the technology Commercialization Lab in the University of Illinois business incubator.
Contract research followed demanding growth in facilities, equipment and employees. The successes achieved brought on requests for custom compounds requiring additional research and process development. The company expanded in 2005 and built its own 20,000 square foot facility and now performs kilo scale manufacturing up to a maximum of 1000 kg/month of specialty chemicals to clients all over the world. These products range from, pharmaceutical intermediates to a variety of monomers, terpinoids and dyes.
We only hire chemists who are enthusiastic about their jobs and have strong theoretical and practical backgrounds. Collaboration and innovation are two key elements we look for in our research chemists.
Obiter Research also maintains a close relationship with the University of Illinois where Dr. Boulanger is an Adjunct Professor and previously maintained their high pressure facility.
The company is managed by Chad L. Boulanger, President and Chief Executive Officer who has over forty years experience in business operations and finance. Manufacturing on a larger scale has opened up additional opportunities and we have positioned ourselves to take advantage of them. Our Manufacturing Partnership program allows us to form long term relationships with our partners providing a win – win situation through the achievement of similar goals.
